CDC New COVID-19 Guidelines
Dear Parents/Guardians/Staff,
As of March 1, 2024, the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) has removed COVID-19 from the list of notifiable disease conditions in Texas, as it is no longer classified as a novel coronavirus.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued updated isolation guidelines for individuals affected by COVID-19. These new recommendations advise individuals to refrain from contact with others while experiencing symptoms of illness. Once symptoms improve and the individual has been fever-free without using fever-reducing medication for at least 24 hours, the CDC recommends a return to normal activities. However, the CDC still advises wearing a mask and adhering to preventive measures for at least five days following the resolution of symptoms.
Parent/Child Incorporated (PCI) remains committed to informing you of any further updates or changes from the CDC. We urge you to maintain adherence to safety protocols, including triaging, regular hand washing, sanitizing, covering the mouth when coughing or sneezing, and refraining from attending work or school when experiencing symptoms of illness. Our collective vigilance and care for one another remain paramount as we navigate these circumstances.
Thank you for your continued cooperation and support in ensuring the health and well-being of our PCI community!
Best regards,
Dr. Sharon M. Small,
Chief Executive Officer/HS/EHS Director
